Job summary

International Motors, LLC is seeking an Engine Audit Technician in Huntsville, AL. You will assemble, modify, and diagnose engines from blueprints, log repair data, and manage non-conforming materials to ensure only top-quality engines progress through the line.

You will troubleshoot complex issues, perform precision repairs, and run quality audits and hot test cells while collaborating with Quality, Materials, and Production teams to uphold strict standards.

Qualifications

  • Three years of diesel engine assembly and troubleshooting experience.
  • Three to five years of experience as an engine mechanic or equivalent diesel mechanic technical school graduation certificate.
  • Knowledge of diesel engine control systems.
  • Three to five years of experience with quality instruments (micrometer, dial bore gauge, digital volt/ohm meter).
  • Ability to read engine prints and wiring schematics.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engines.
  • Ability to perform engine audits to ensure process compliance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Non-Conforming Material (NCM): receive, evaluate, and process all materials returned to the NCM area.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: liaison between Quality, Materials, and Production regarding NCM issues.
  • Material Disposition: determine whether components should be scrapped or repaired and oversee the decision execution.
  • Rework & Documentation: repair and teardown materials per work instructions, complete NCM tickets, return parts to assembly line, update team.
  • Data Analysis: conduct NCM Pareto analysis to track trends and identify frequent quality issues.
  • Quality Containment: perform emergency containment procedures on engines to prevent defects.
  • Departmental Support: assist with special projects and other duties.

Job description

Position Overview

Step into a critical quality-focused role within our Engine Auditing Department. As an Engine Audit Technician, you will be the gatekeeper of engine performance—assembling, modifying, and diagnosing engines and their components. Working from technical blueprints, you will troubleshoot complex issues, perform precision repairs, and run vital quality audits and hot test cells. Your keen eye for detail will also guide the accurate logging of repair data and the proper management of non-conforming materials to ensure only the highest quality leaves our floor.

Schedule: Monday thorugh Thursday 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Pay: $29.50 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Manage Non-Conforming Material (NCM): Receive, evaluate, and process all materials returned to the NCM area.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison between Quality, Materials, and Production departments regarding NCM issues.
  • Material Disposition: Determine whether components should be scrapped or repaired, and oversee the execution of that decision.
  • Rework & Documentation: Repair and teardown materials according to work instructions, complete NCM tickets, return parts to the assembly line, and update relevant team members.
  • Data Analysis: Conduct NCM Pareto analysis to track trends and identify frequent quality issues.
  • Quality Containment: Perform emergency containment procedures on engines as required to prevent defects from escaping.
  • Departmental Support: Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Three years of diesel engine assembly and troubleshooting experience
Additional Requirements
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.   • Physical Requirements (Ability to do the following up to 10 hours per shift):
    • Walk, stand, sit, bend, twist/turn, kneel, squat, crawl
    • Climb using both legs and arms
    • Head/neck movement
    • Reach outward or above the shoulder
    • Lift, carry, push, or pull 15-45 pounds
    • Repetitive use of hands and fingers
    • Use of vibrating tools
    • Exposure to constant and intermittent noise, fumes, smoke and gases, solvents, paint, grease and oils, radiant energy, and slippery surfaces
Desired Skills
