Job summary

Southern State Community College is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach Speech at the Central Campus. You will engage students in speaking and communication courses, plan curricula, and maintain regular office hours.

The role requires a Master’s in Communication (or related field) and likely college teaching experience. You will assess student performance, provide feedback, and participate in faculty development and campus safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Communication or related discipline; 18 semester or 27 quarter hours in Communication.
• Preferred: at least one year of college-level Communication teaching experience.
• Must pass required background checks and document identity and employment eligibility as required by policy.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach courses that meet curriculum goals.
• Stay current with subject matter and teaching methods.
• Post office hours as needed.
• Assess student performance and provide timely feedback.
• Submit grades per college policies.
• Participate in NC-Sara/CANVAS trainings and adjunct faculty development.
• Know and follow the College's Emergency Crisis Response Plan.
• Support the mission of the program, division and College.
• Maintain regular attendance and adjust schedule to workload.
