Job summary

Diversicare seeks an Activities Coordinator to lead group and one-to-one activities for residents, coordinating with the Activity Coordinator and Resident Council to plan programs. You will help with outings, entertainment, and events while managing attendance and communications about resident progress.

Ideal candidates have experience in long-term care, strong interpersonal skills, and the creativity to design engaging activities that promote wellbeing and community among residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in long term care required; preferred in recreational setting.
• An interest in people; the ability to communicate ideas and instruct residents.
• Ability to direct and perform activities and respond to varied resident needs.
• Able to motivate residents through direct activities and promote wellbeing.
• Ability to interpret feelings and ideas from a personal viewpoint.
• Must evaluate resident progress and report to the Activities Coordinator.
• Imagination and creativity are necessary.

Responsibilities

• Leads group activities as assigned by the Activity Coordinator.
• Provides one-to-one activities for residents unable to join groups.
• Assists in planning Activity Program with Resident Council and Activity Coordinator.
• Maintains attendance sheets for participants.
• Assists residents to and from activities.
• Communicates resident status to Activity Coordinator.
• May attend interdisciplinary care plan meetings and document progress notes.
• May arrange movies, live entertainment and group outings.
• Assigns duties and delegates tasks to volunteers.
• Has access to protected health information to perform duties.
