Job summary

Jefferson County Schools in West Virginia is seeking a Secondary Teacher for Middle School English, exempt status, with a minimum 200 days of service annually.

You will design and deliver engaging lessons aligned to WV content standards, monitor progress, and provide differentiated instruction. You’ll collaborate with department colleagues, communicate with families, and maintain a safe, productive classroom environment to support student achievement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and university.
• Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the endorsement area.
• Criminal background check required under WV code.
• Meet WV Code qualifications outlined for the position.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement WV content standards for secondary learners.
• Develop lesson plans and provide individualized/small-group instruction.
• Keep records and prepare progress reports as assigned.
• Communicate with parents and discuss student progress.
• Establish a safe, standards-based learning environment.
• Coordinate parent/teacher conferences to review student performance.
• Perform attendance, classroom organization, and respond to inquiries.
• Adhere to district policies and participate in school improvement activities.
