Job summary

The City of Nampa's Recreation Center is seeking a Group Fitness Instructor to develop and lead engaging group fitness classes. This part-time role reports to the Fitness Coordinator and involves instructional duties within a pool setting, with varied schedules.

Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma or GED, 1+ year group fitness experience, and nationally recognized certifications including CPR/AED. A strong emphasis on safety, communication, and community engagement is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1+ year experience in group fitness instruction or willingness to become trained.
• Nationally recognized Group Fitness or Aquatic Fitness Certification.
• Specialty certifications for Zumba, Yoga, Cycle, Pilates as needed.
• CPR/AED certification with hands-on skills assessment.

Responsibilities

• Plans and leads group fitness classes as scheduled.
• Maintains a safe environment and demonstrates proper exercise techniques.
• Secures substitutes for scheduled classes when needed.
• Maintains equipment logs and reports issues.
• Promotes events and engages with customers and community members.
• Documents class attendance accurately.
• Mentors new employees in similar roles as needed.
• Attends trainings and stays current with fitness practices.
