Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA in Santa Barbara is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead aerobic, mind-body, and basic fitness classes for members and participants. You will develop routines, promote programs, and foster connections within the gym community.

The role emphasizes high-quality customer service, ongoing training, and maintaining class attendance standards as part of our community wellness commitment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Required certifications: Nationally Recognized Group Exercise Certification (ACE, NASM, ISSA, NETA, AFAA) and/or specialized format certification (SilverSneakers, Zumba, LesMills, etc.).
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire.
• Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance.

Responsibilities

• Implement aerobics exercise, mind-body, or basic fitness classes.
• Teach fitness classes; develop fitness routines, exercises, and choreography for participants.
• Promote programs to members and participants.
• Record participant counts, distribute and collect program evaluations.
• Maintain minimum class attendance standard.
• Provide exceptional customer service and foster connections with members.
• Participate in and satisfactorily complete in-service trainings.
