Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA seeks a Group Exercise Instructor to lead aerobics, mind-body, and basic fitness classes. You will create routines, teach sessions, promote YMCA programs, and track participation while ensuring consistent attendance and high customer service standards.

Applicants must be 18+, have a high school diploma, and hold recognized certifications (ACE/NASM/ISSA/NETA/AFAA) or equivalent formats. Certifications must be completed within 60 days of hire and all trainings within two

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Required certifications: ACE, NASM, ISSA, NETA, AFAA and/or specialized format certifications (SilverSneakers, Zumba, LesMills, etc.).
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings within two weeks of hire.
• Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance.

Responsibilities

• Implement aerobics, mind-body, or basic fitness classes.
• Teach fitness classes; develop routines and choreography for participants.
• Promote programs to members and participants.
• Record participant counts and distribute/collect program evaluations.
• Maintain minimum class attendance standard.
• Provide exceptional customer service and foster connections with members.
