Job summary

YMCA Central New Mexico is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher to deliver a quality experience for children and families aligned with our core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

You will implement curriculum, design daily lesson plans, supervise the classroom, observe and evaluate children, and communicate with parents while engaging them as volunteers. A 45-hour certificate plus CPR/First Aid/AED and child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire are required.

Qualifications

• Meets state education and experience requirements.
• At least 18 years old.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certifications and child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire.
• Previous experience with children in developmental settings preferred.
• Ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
• Experience with diverse populations.
• Must have 45-hour certificate.
• Attend higher education classes to keep knowledge current.

Responsibilities

• Implement curriculum within established guidelines.
• Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervises the children, classroom, and activities.
• Makes ongoing observations and evaluations of each child.
• Maintains communication with parents and engages volunteers.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Keeps required program records.
• Attends family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and trainings.
