Job summary

Comanche Nation is seeking an Assistant Teacher for the Child Care Program in Oklahoma. You will implement quality classroom activities, ensure licensing standards, and support the learning and well-being of young children.

The role emphasizes confidentiality, teamwork, and ongoing professional development. A valid Oklahoma driver’s license and ability to pass background checks and drug tests are required.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to submit to and pass a Federal Background Investigation.
• Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
• Must be able to submit and pass all Drug Testing.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and be employed full time.
• Meet and maintain all licensing and accreditation standards in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Have no felony or misdemeanor convictions related to children or violent offenses.
• Must be able to lift children and maintain classroom cleanliness.
• Meet the Professional Development Ladder: High School Diploma/GED or in process of obtaining a GED (within 36 months).

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality and comply with program and Comanche Nation policies.
• Provide classroom management and adhere to discipline policy.
• Plan and participate in activities to develop social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills.
• Create and implement lesson plans and submit to the Curriculum Director.
• Plan developmentally appropriate activities aligned with curriculum objectives.
• Create individualized supports for children with special needs.
• Coordinate with lead teachers, assistant teachers, and Summer Youth staff.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and organized classroom and environment.
• Maintain staff to child ratios and daily meal counts.
• Coordinate field trips and obtain necessary permissions in advance.
• Document developmental progress and communicate with families regularly.
