Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic instructors for after-school chess programs in Richmond, CA. Lead 10-15 elementary students in fun, structured sessions after school, using our curriculum to build chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.

Typical schedule is 2:00 PM–5:00 PM on weekdays, with 1–5 classes per week depending on local school availability. Travel to nearby schools is required; mileage reimbursement provided for long trips.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar).
• Comfort leading a class independently and creating interactive, friendly, and fun sessions.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10-15 elementary students.
• Use structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and promote good sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrivals, dismissal, and in-class activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students.
