Job summary

Chess Wizards in Dallas, TX is seeking enthusiastic instructors to join our after-school enrichment program. You will lead engaging chess classes for elementary students using our structured curriculum, creating a positive classroom environment and promoting good sportsmanship.

Teach a 1–5 class per week with start times typically between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM at local schools, and receive mileage reimbursement for travel.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings.
• Ability to lead a class independently and create interactive, fun sessions.
• Professional, positive, kid-friendly demeanor.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals and ability to explain moves and simple tactics to kids.
• Ability to connect chess problems to real-life thinking.
• Reliable transportation and ability to drive between locations.
• Availability on weekday afternoons (2:00 PM–5:00 PM) for 1–5 classes per week.
• Commitment to school safety protocols and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Teach chess fundamentals using our structured curriculum.
• Manage a lively, positive classroom environment.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrivals, dismissal, and in-class activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time, prepared and ready to engage students.
