Job summary

BASIS Baton Rouge Materra is seeking a 5th Grade Life Science Teacher to start ASAP. The role focuses on delivering BASIS Curriculum with subject-specific lesson plans and an interactive approach to learning.

Responsibilities include planning, tutoring, collaboration with fellow BASIS teachers, and maintaining high standards of student engagement. Strong qualifications and clearances are required; BASIS Ed supports a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in subject matter or 24+ credit hours with other degree
• Valid fingerprint clearance and/or state background check
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

• Prepare and facilitate subject and grade specific lesson plans
• Provide instruction on a higher level than grade standard in an interactive learning environment
• Design lessons and assessments to ensure international competitiveness
• Collaborate with BASIS Curriculum teachers to develop curriculum materials
• Tutor students in content-specific knowledge and skills to boost academic trajectory
• Manage student behavior to foster achievement and responsibility
• Support non-instructional functions (Early Bird, Late Bird, lunch)
• Maintain regular attendance and reliability
• Supervise individual or groups of students
