Job description

About InSource Solutions

InSource Solutions is a leading industrial software solutions provider and a trusted partner of AVEVA, a global leader in engineering and industrial software. Leveraging AVEVA's portfolio and the portfolios of our other partners, we specialize in delivering cutting-edge services and solutions that empower businesses across various industries to optimize their operations, improve efficiency, and achieve their digital transformation goals.

Position Summary

The Engagement Manager will define expected client outcomes and lead engagement delivery for the InSource Solutions Operational Intelligence (OI) Practice, a consulting practice built to help manufacturers convert digital and AI investments into measurable operational and financial results.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for an experienced and highly self-directed professional who combines manufacturing credibility, consulting discipline, and the ability to turn ambiguous operational problems into structured, fundable paths to value.

The Engagement Manager leads the definition of client needs and expected outcomes and manages the delivery of OI Practice engagements, from initial discovery workshops and readiness assessments through execution support and ongoing advisory relationships. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable walking a plant floor with operators and engineers, leading working sessions with senior executives, and managing an ongoing governance cadence with retained clients.

As a founding-team role, the balance between hands-on delivery and client relationship ownership will evolve as the Practice matures. Success requires strong facilitation, structured problem solving, project leadership, executive communication, and OT/IT fluency to establish credibility in both operational and leadership environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Engagement Leadership: Lead the definition of client problems, desired outcomes, and success measures for OI Practice engagements and broader InSource pursuits when required. Lead engagements across scope, workplan, stakeholder alignment, risk, quality, and outcome delivery. Serve as the day-to-day client lead across operators, technical teams, functional leaders, and executive sponsors.
  • Discovery and Readiness Assessment: Plan and facilitate discovery workshops that translate operational challenges into prioritized opportunities and actionable roadmaps. Lead multi-week readiness assessments spanning data, technology, organization, process, and business case considerations. Synthesize findings into clear readiness conclusions with identified risks, dependencies, and recommended next steps.
  • Ongoing Client Advisory: Own the structure of ongoing advisory relationships, adapting scope as client needs evolve and building client capabilities where appropriate. Maintain continuity as work progresses into follow-on InSource offerings and longer-term support. Conduct periodic governance reviews to track value realization and sustain executive sponsorship.
  • Opportunity Identification and Client Growth: Proactively identify the next opportunity within retained client relationships as business needs evolve. Advise clients on the appropriate path forward, whether delivered by InSource or the client’s internal team.
  • Business Case and Executive Communication: Translate operational opportunities into executive-ready business cases that quantify value, investment requirements, assumptions, and success measures. Build prioritized roadmaps identifying platform, foundational, and organizational requirements. Produce concise, defensible deliverables and facilitate decision-oriented sessions with executive stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage Continuous Improvement, Organizational Change Management, solution architecture, and other specialist resources when required. Work closely with Sales, Delivery, Client Success, Managed Services, and partner teams to deliver comprehensive client outcomes.
  • Delivery Methodology and Practice Development: Partner with the Practice Leader to develop and refine a repeatable engagement methodology. Create and improve workshop guides, assessment tools, readiness scorecards, business case models, and quality standards. Convert engagement lessons into reusable intellectual property and reference cases.
  • Practice Scalability and Delivery Excellence: Help shape how the Practice scales, including delivery leverage and handoff models to broader InSource Delivery and Managed Services teams. Deliver workshops and assessments on schedule, within scoped hours, and according to Practice quality standards.
  • Opportunity Pull-Through: Document qualified software, foundational services, execution, and advisory opportunities surfaced during engagements while maintaining product-agnostic recommendations. Advise and govern follow-on programs led by InSource delivery teams and contribute to proposals, scoping, and effort estimates.
  • Value Realization and Client Success: Produce readiness conclusions, business cases, and roadmaps that lead to client-approved next steps. Generate executive sponsorship and referenceable outcomes, grow retained advisory relationships, and strengthen renewal and expansion through demonstrated value realization.
Qualifications
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong workshop facilitation, stakeholder management, and structured project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal executive communication skills.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous operational challenges into structured problems, recommendations, and actionable plans.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, business case development, and executive communication capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams while maintaining accountability for scope, quality, timing, and outcomes.
  • Strong self-motivation, ownership, and personal accountability.
  • Ability to operate autonomously and effectively manage ambiguity without detailed direction.
  • Structured thinking, intellectual curiosity, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to communicate credibly with operators, engineers, plant leaders, and C-suite executives.
  • Collaborative approach with the judgment to engage specialist expertise when it improves client outcomes.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and client-service orientation.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and client-ready deliverables.
  • Ability to leverage AI-powered tools and technologies to accelerate research, analysis, synthesis, and deliverable development.
  • Working literacy in manufacturing data and technology concepts; hands-on implementation expertise is not required.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt as the Practice and technology landscape evolve.
Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, Technology, or a related field preferred. An advanced degree, such as an MBA, is a plus.
  • Six or more years of experience across manufacturing operations, digital transformation, management consulting, industrial technology, program management, or product management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex client-facing or executive-facing projects from ambiguous problem definition through recommendation and delivery.
  • Direct experience in industrial or manufacturing environments, with the credibility to engage plant-floor operators and technical teams.
  • Experience developing business cases, value models, roadmaps, or investment recommendations.
  • Experience owning a client or account relationship over time, including retention, renewal, or expansion, rather than solely discrete project delivery.
  • Experience with digital manufacturing, Industry 4.0, operational excellence, or manufacturing transformation programs is preferred.
  • Experience with OT/IT environments, including SCADA, historians, MES/MOM, CMMS, industrial data infrastructure, analytics, or cloud platforms is preferred.
  • Exposure to AI/ML, advanced analytics, predictive maintenance, digital twins, connected worker, or industrial decision-support use cases is preferred.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, value-stream mapping, KPI design, or asset-performance programs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with platforms within the InSource partner ecosystem, including AVEVA, Braincube, and TwinThread, is preferred.
  • Experience with organizational change management, user adoption, governance, or operating-model design is preferred.
  • Experience working within multi-site or enterprise manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Ability to travel throughout North America for client workshops, assessments, and executive sessions. Approximately 30%–50% travel is expected.
