Louisiana State University invites applications for an Engagement Coordinator within the Sea Grant Education & Engagement Unit. The role leads stewardship and public outreach, coordinating Coastal Roots and related programs, teacher trainings, and educational material development to advance environmental literacy and workforce development in coastal Louisiana.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in one of Biology, Ecology, Marine Science, Education, Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Conservation, or Geography
Valid driver's license
Preferred: Master's degree and 2-8 years of experience in education or outreach activities

Responsibilities

Manages the implementation of the Coastal Roots program, including communicating with participating schools, coordinating plantings at restoration sites, conducting yard inspections, maintaining records, purchasing supplies, and further developing the program.
Develops and curates educational resources and trainings associated with Sea Grant's stewardship portfolio, including Coastal Roots, Native Fish in the Classroom, and marine debris, disseminating information to audiences across coastal Louisiana.
Participates in planning for project-based and place-based learning initiatives (e.g., Ocean Commotion, Wetland Days, LaDIA, citizen science), leading efforts with partners and supervising participants.
Develops, organizes, and supervises education endeavors highlighting Sea Grant-supported research activities; supervises 2-4 students.
Other duties as assigned.
