Job summary

The Open Door in Gloucester, MA seeks an Engagement Coordinator to connect volunteers, donors and community members with our mission. You’ll welcome and support volunteers, coordinate schedules, assist with events and food drives, and help ensure every volunteer interaction is organized, positive, and impactful.

This role is 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with flexibility for nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Experience with volunteers, events, or community engagement preferred.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome, coordinate, and support volunteers throughout their experience.
  • Assist with food drives, community events, and outreach activities.
  • Track volunteer participation and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide administrative and team support to ensure engagement programs run smoothly.

The Open Door is seeking an Engagement Coordinator to help connect volunteers, donors, and community members with our mission. In this role, you’ll be at the center of volunteer and community engagement activities. You’ll welcome and support volunteers, coordinate schedules, assist with events and food drives, and help ensure every volunteer interaction is organized, positive, and impactful.

The Open Door is a leading food equity organization based in Gloucester on Boston’s North Shore. The organization provides critical food resources to more than 12,000 people annually. This is an opportunity to use your talents to build community connections while advancing our mission to alleviate the impact of hunger.

What You’ll Do

Play a key role in creating an outstanding volunteer experience and supporting community engagement initiatives:

  • Welcome, coordinate, and support volunteers throughout their experience
  • Assist with food drives, community events, and outreach activities
  • Track volunteer participation and maintain accurate records
  • Help ensure engagement programs run smoothly by providing administrative and team support

  • Experience with volunteers, events, or community engagement preferred.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience and a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and assist with event setup and breakdown
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Starting range $20-$21.50 per hour
  • 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Flexibility for nights & weekends required
  • Prorated benefits including PTO, earned sick time, matching retirement
