Job description

The Residence Life Coordinator for Engagement and Assessment is a full-time, 12‑month, live‑on professional position serving the Office of Residence Life and reporting to the Assistant Director for Student Success and Engagement and the Director of Residence Life.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the management of the Residential Engagement Badge.
• Collaborate with the College Transition Coordinator and Academic Success Center staff to assess and implement student success initiatives in the residence halls, including intervention strategies, success workshops and residence hall study hours.
• Establish a first‑year peer mentorship program.
• Assist with planning, implementing and assessing large‑scale department events and collaborations.
• Oversee the distribution and analysis of the bi‑annual EBI survey and annual Residential Engagement Survey.
• Host resident feedback sessions and make recommendations to department leadership based on assessment data.
• Manage department social media accounts, creating consistent content regarding engagement and department processes.
• Work with department leadership and University Marketing & Public Relations to create marketing materials, including print and video for YouTube and the department website.
• Work with department leadership and IRT to create informational and how‑to videos on a variety of residential processes.
• Create and update department marketing materials for openings, closings, selection, events and orientation sessions.
• Update department standard signage in the halls, including policy reminders, tips and strategies for living in community.
• Oversee or assist with recognition initiatives, such as resident recognition, Administrative Professional Day, Boss’s Day, Custodial Appreciation, RA Appreciation Week and the annual staff banquet.
• Work with the Assistant Director to create and update virtual training videos and materials.
• Assist with planning and running annual student staff cross‑training.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and improve the residential student experience.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and regular one‑on‑one supervision meetings.
• Participate in nightly on‑call rotation as second‑tier support for graduate staff and respond to crisis situations on campus as needed.
• Comply with all university employee reporting requirements, procedures and trainings.
• Work evenings and weekends as required, including early mornings, late evenings and weekends, especially during student training and hall preparation periods.
• Participate in and be present for critical Student Development events, including Division Meetings, Orientation, Admissions Events, Tailgating, Homecoming, Residence Life Training, Move‑in, Housing Selection, Student Staff Selection, Move‑out, and other events.
• Other assignments as needed and appropriate for the position.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in higher education, organizational leadership, business administration or a related field.
• Minimum of two years of professional or graduate experience in residence life, student activities or another major functional area of student affairs.
• Live full‑time in an assigned campus apartment and work from a designated on‑campus office in the residence hall.
• Regular evening and some weekend work required; may need to report for work during emergencies such as inclement weather or other hazardous conditions.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary (based on AFT) ranges from $63,833.23 to $73,415.99 per year. The position may be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance and retirement plans.
