Job summary

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is seeking police-certified applicants to join our Enforcement Division as a Sergeant. The role will supervise patrol, investigations, traffic safety, forest patrol, and other units, with emphasis on leadership, employee development, and open communication with the team and community partners.

Salary ranges from $47.41 to $63.56 hourly with incentives, longevity, and steps up to six figures annually.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience as a Certified Public Safety officer.
• Current Basic Police Certification.
• supervisory certification within 36 months of appointment.
• valid driver’s license in state of residence and acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Direct, supervise, plan and coordinate activities of assigned personnel.
• Provide training, evaluate performance, and recommend personnel actions.
• Appear and testify in court as required.
• Provide mentoring and assign duties to subordinates.
• Communicate with supervisors, agencies and the public.
