Job summary

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is seeking an Institutions Sergeant to lead, supervise, and coordinate the Institutions Division. This role focuses on shift supervision, administrative duties, and judicial security duties within a corrections setting.

Qualified applicants will have four years of certified public safety experience, a Basic Corrections Certification, and the ability to obtain Supervisory Certification within 36 months.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience as a Certified Public Safety officer.
• Must possess a current Basic Corrections Certification.
• Must obtain Supervisory Certification within 36 months of appointment.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license in the applicant's state of residence.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first line supervisor directing, supervising, planning and coordinating activities of assigned personnel.
• Supervise the investigation of major incidents; assign duties and track case management.
• Address public complaints and inquiries; develop and train subordinates.
