Job summary

1898 & Co. in Chicago seeks an Energy & Utilities Analyst to assist with power system studies, cost analyses and regulatory assessments for utility clients. You will work under supervision to develop solutions and support planning, benchmarking and investment decisions.

Responsibilities include assisting with life-cycle cost analyses, technical assessments, and preparation of client presentations. A strong engineering background and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Basic engineering and financial concepts knowledge.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative environment.
• Proficient with MS Office.
• Strong attention to detail and team collaboration.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
• Campus or community involvement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze engineering, financial and economic conditions to support client projects.
• Apply engineering and financial concepts to consulting work.
• Assist life-cycle cost analyses with cost estimates and forecasts.
• Assist regulatory-impacted technical assessments for projects.
• Assist with designing/reviewing drawings per project requirements.
• Support power system planning, analysis and operation tasks.
• Perform studies for planning and operations of utility projects.
• Support transmission/distribution studies using power system software.
• Support assessments for fossil and renewable generation.
• Support technical and business risk assessments.
• Assist with detailed financial analyses using computer tools.
• Prepare reports and presentations summarizing analysis results.
• Assist client presentations, engineering reviews and contract administration for utility design.
• Support Utility Consulting lines as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
