Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a student to join our team and contribute to developing and supporting components of the Beacon ETRM system in New York. You will collaborate with Trading, Quant, Risk, and Tech teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.

The role emphasizes Python development, unit testing, and data integrity checks within a commodities trading context, with exposure to market data and regulatory tooling.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with Python; other modern object-oriented programming languages welcome
• Ideally, some exposure to the commodities or energy trading industry, or knowledge of US energy markets
• Ability to write and maintain unit tests
• Analytical and solution-focused problem-solving ability
• Strong communication across Trading, Quant, and Technology functions

Responsibilities

• Develop, extend, and support technical aspects of the Beacon ETRM system
• Work on market data tools, real-time risk monitoring, and confirms processing
• Maintain and enhance interfaces with third-party systems, including exchange feeds, risk and credit systems, and regulatory reporting tools
• Support front, middle, and back office technology needs, including invoicing, inventory management, and end-of-day batch processes
• Contribute to deal life-cycling, reconciliation processes, and system data integrity checks
• Write and maintain unit tests
• Collaborate with Trading, Quant, Risk, Operations, Finance, and Legal teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
