Job summary

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an Energy Systems Analyst III for a full-time, on-site role in Phoenix, AZ. The position leads technical assessments of commercial facilities to identify energy conservation measures and building-energy improvements, overseeing site surveys, preliminary engineering, and project documentation.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 4+ years of HVAC experience, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while traveling about two week-long trips

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of central energy plants and control systems.
  • Experience conducting facility assessments, site surveys, or building systems evaluations.
  • Understanding of commercial HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, building controls, and energy conservation opportunities.
  • Ability to independently evaluate facility conditions and develop technically sound recommendations.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, engineering standards, and industry practices.
  • Strong project coordination and time-management skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to lead projects and provide guidance to engineers and/or technicians.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately two week-long overnight trips per month.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, schedule, and conduct facility site surveys to evaluate existing building conditions and identify potential energy conservation measures and improvement opportunities.
  • Manage preliminary engineering activities for complex energy projects, including equipment inventories, energy conservation measures, scoping narratives, schematic drawings, and transaction document exhibits.
  • Evaluate commercial HVAC systems, central energy plants, controls, and related building systems to support energy efficiency and retrofit solutions.
  • Apply applicable building codes, industry standards, engineering practices, and technical criteria throughout the retrofit and energy solutions development process.
  • Develop project scopes and technical documentation based on site assessments, client requirements, facility conditions, and project objectives.
  • Track project status, schedules, deliverables, workloads, and technical resources to ensure internal and external deadlines are met.
  • Manage the transition of projects from the pre-engineering phase to the design team.
  • Coordinate incoming technical and project information from internal and external stakeholders and distribute information to appropriate project team members.
  • Partner with clients, engineers, developers, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to accurately document and communicate project requirements.
  • Monitor project resources and performance metrics to support on-time delivery within established project parameters.
  • Ensure communications with clients, contractors, consultants, and other external stakeholders are properly documented and maintained.
  • Collaborate with energy modelers, financial modelers, developers, engineers, and other technical resources throughout project development.
  • Provide technical leadership and supervision to less experienced engineers and technicians while managing assigned projects.
  • Support the development and implementation of engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Attend and/or facilitate internal and external technical training related to HVAC, energy systems, building systems, controls, and energy efficiency.
  • Participate in relevant industry organizations, meetings, events, and professional development activities.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to quality, safety, client satisfaction, and successful project execution.
  • Perform additional project and technical responsibilities as business needs require.

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Energy Systems Analyst III for a full-time opportunity in Phoenix, AZ. This senior-level position leads and performs technical assessments of commercial facilities to identify, develop, and support energy conservation and building systems improvement projects. The Energy Systems Analyst III will lead facility site surveys, manage preliminary engineering activities, develop energy conservation measures (ECMs), coordinate project requirements, and support the transition of projects from pre-engineering through design. Travel Requirements

This position requires approximately two week-long overnight trips per month to support facility surveys, project assessments, and other business needs. All approved business travel expenses are reimbursed; no per diem is provided.
