Job summary

Colorado State University’s Zimmerle Research Group seeks Research Associates to advance research at the Powerhouse Energy Campus and METEC. You will design and operate experiments, develop digital twin models, and collaborate with project coordinators, senior researchers, faculty, and external partners to drive multiple projects forward.

Travel and non-standard hours may be required. You will contribute to data analysis, writing papers, and presenting results, under direction of senior staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with <3 years of relevant research experience (Associate I).
  • Bachelor's degree with >3 years relevant experience or a Master’s degree (Associate II).
  • Bachelor's degree with ≥5 years relevant experience or a Master’s plus ≥2 years (Associate III).
  • Detail-oriented with safe operation of lab/industrial equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid physical science background focused on mechanical systems, fluids, and gases.
  • Ability to advise and troubleshoot with researchers, faculty, and students.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of research efforts.
  • Build and maintain laboratory systems and digital twin models.
  • Design, maintain, and operate experiments, participate in data collection.
  • Occasional field measurement campaigns may be required.
  • Develop instrumentation and data collection practices and manuals.
  • Lead or facilitate parts of projects with minimal oversight.
  • Prepare and disseminate research results in papers and reports.
