Job summary

Sacbar seeks an experienced Regulatory Counsel to provide strategic legal support across development, commercial and operations for a leading renewable power platform, focusing on U.S. and Canadian energy regulatory matters affecting a diversified generation and transmission asset portfolio.

Qualifications

• JD and bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 7–12+ years of experience in energy regulatory law.
• Deep expertise in FERC, NERC, DOE, FCC and energy market rules.
• In-house experience at a reputable company is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise on federal, regional, and provincial/state regulatory frameworks governing development, ownership and operation of electric assets.
• Provide day-to-day counsel on FERC regulations, compliance programs, internal policies, training and audits.
• Support development and commercial teams on interconnection, transmission service, and market participation strategies across U.S. and Canadian markets.
• Interpret and advise on RTO/ISO tariffs and market rules (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, NYISO, ISO-NE) and regulatory developments.
• Advise on regulatory inputs into PPAs, transmission service agreements and trading arrangements.
• Support energy regulatory aspects of due diligence and acquisition of assets and businesses.
• Lead and manage regulatory filings, proceedings, and stakeholder engagement with FERC and regulators.
