Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a Cost Control Specialist in Chicago, IL to support project financial management for transmission and renewable energy projects. The role collaborates with project managers, procurement teams, and finance to track expenditures and maintain accurate budgets throughout development and construction stages.

This on-site position requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years in project controls or related finance roles, with strong forecasting and reporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Construction or related field.
• 10+ years experience in project controls, PM support, or finance roles.
• Experience coordinating projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong financial reporting and cost tracking skills.
• Ability to analyze budgets and support forecasting.
• Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain project budgets and financial forecasts.
• Prepare and update EAC forecasts for active projects.
• Perform monthly cost reporting and financial reviews with teams and leadership.
• Monitor expenditures and identify financial risks and mitigations.
• Support procurement activities including supplier setup, requisitions and POs.
• Manage invoice processing and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Track vendor and subcontractor expenditures for proper recording.
• Coordinate with teams to keep financial alignment across project lifecycle.
• Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as requested by management.
