Job summary

Hamilton Barnes is seeking an experienced Energy Marshal to lead electrical safety on hyperscale data center projects across the United States. This 100% travel role focuses on energization, Lock Out/Tag Out, and compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, NEC, and client safety requirements.

You will develop Energy Isolation Plans, coordinate energisation between contractors and teams, conduct safety briefings, and maintain thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience as Energy Marshal or similar electrical safety role.
• Knowledge of LOTO procedures and hazardous energy control.
• Familiarity with NFPA 70E, OSHA regulations and NEC.
• Experience on data centers or large electrical construction projects.
• Ability to read electrical one-line diagrams and switching procedures.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the site's Energy Marshal for energy isolation and LOTO activities.
• Develop, review and enforce Energy Isolation Plans and energisation procedures.
• Coordinate energisation activities between contractors, commissioning teams and clients.
• Ensure safe implementation of LOTO before work begins.
• Verify permits, switching docs and safety paperwork prior to energisation.
• Conduct site inspections/audits to ensure OSHA/NFPA70E/NEC compliance.
• Support commissioning with safe energisation of switchgear, UPS, gensets.
• Lead safety briefings and provide guidance on hazardous energy control.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions; maintain records.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Energy Marshal with a strong background in electrical safety and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures. The role involves ensuring energization and hazardous energy activities are carried out safely, compliantly, and to the highest industry standards across major mission-critical construction projects. As a 100% travel role, you'll work on leading data center developments while benefiting from a salary of up to $150,000, daily per diem, comprehensive benefits, and long-term career growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the site's Energy Marshal, overseeing all electrical energy isolation and LOTO activities throughout construction and commissioning.
• Develop, review and enforce Energy Isolation Plans (EIPs), switching procedures and project-specific energisation plans.
• Coordinate all planned energisation activities between contractors, commissioning teams, clients and site management.
• Ensure all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures are implemented correctly and safely before work commences.
• Verify permits, switching documentation and electrical safety paperwork prior to energisation.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC and client safety requirements.
• Support commissioning activities while ensuring safe energisation of electrical systems including switchgear, UPS systems, generators and critical infrastructure.
• Lead safety briefings, toolbox talks and provide technical guidance on hazardous energy control.
• Investigate electrical safety incidents, near misses and non-conformances, implementing corrective actions where required.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records relating to all energy isolation and energisation activities.

Skills/Must Have

• Previous experience as an Energy Marshal, LOTO Coordinator, Electrical Safety Coordinator, Authorised Person (AP) or similar electrical safety role.
• Experience working on data centers, mission critical, industrial, utility or large-scale electrical construction projects.
• Strong understanding of Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and hazardous energy control.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA regulations and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Experience working around electrical distribution systems including switchgear, UPS, generators, transformers and critical power infrastructure.
• Ability to read electrical one-line diagrams and switching procedures.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work alongside multiple contractors and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel extensively and stay away from home during the working week.
