Qualifications

Join a leading multi-discipline engineering consultancy delivering major mission-critical and hyperscale data centre projects across the United States. The organization is expanding its Data Centre Specialist team and focuses on delivering complex projects to high safety and industry standards.

The role involves supporting major data center construction projects as an experienced Energy Marshal, with responsibility for energization and hazardous energy activities, electrical safety, and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures. This is a 100% travel position, offering a salary of up to $185,000, daily per diem, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to work on advanced data center projects across North America.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the site's Energy Marshal, overseeing all electrical energy isolation and LOTO activities throughout construction and commissioning.
• Develop, review and enforce Energy Isolation Plans (EIPs), switching procedures and project-specific energisation plans.
• Coordinate all planned energisation activities between contractors, commissioning teams, clients and site management.
• Ensure all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures are implemented correctly and safely before work commences.
• Verify permits, switching documentation and electrical safety paperwork prior to energisation.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC and client safety requirements.
• Support commissioning activities while ensuring safe energisation of electrical systems including switchgear, UPS systems, generators and critical infrastructure.
• Lead safety briefings, toolbox talks and provide technical guidance on hazardous energy control.
• Investigate electrical safety incidents, near misses and non-conformances, implementing corrective actions where required.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records relating to all energy isolation and energisation activities.

Skills/Must Have:

• Previous experience as an Energy Marshal, LOTO Coordinator, Electrical Safety Coordinator, Authorised Person (AP) or similar electrical safety role.
• Experience working on data centers, mission critical, industrial, utility or large-scale electrical construction projects.
• Strong understanding of Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and hazardous energy control.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA regulations and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Experience working around electrical distribution systems including switchgear, UPS, generators, transformers and critical power infrastructure.
• Ability to read electrical one-line diagrams and switching procedures.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work alongside multiple contractors and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel extensively and stay away from home during the working week.
