Job summary

JERA Global Markets Houston seeks an Analyst, Market Risk to support risk management for North American gas trading. You will join a growing team focusing on US natural gas trading, optimisation, and market development across North America.

You will work with the Market Risk team in Houston to design, implement and improve risk control frameworks, providing quantitative and qualitative analyses for decision-making.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of market risk experience in commodities trading, preferably US gas and power.
• A background in risk management within energy/commodity trading or investment banking.
• Strong mathematical, statistical and quantitative analysis skills.
• Ability to work across time zones in a global team.
• Proficiency in Excel, VBA and Python for risk reporting and modelling.
• Knowledge of VaR, scenario analysis, back testing and stress testing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly market risk reports (VaR, options, stress tests).
• Perform quantitative analysis of portfolio risk across commodities and products.
• Deliver ad-hoc analyses for onboarding new business and products.
• Support digitalization and automation to improve information flow.
• Collaborate on IT systems development to enhance risk tools and infrastructure.
• Contribute to development, validation, and upkeep of risk models.
• Ensure timely validation of option bookings.
• Provide analytical support for NBC and GRC activities.
• Work effectively as part of a global, hybrid team.
