Job summary

NextEra Energy, Inc is seeking an Energy Market Quantitative Analyst to develop and optimize models for renewable generation, energy storage, and traditional utility assets. You will build mathematical models and perform quantitative studies of energy markets to support trading, origination, and asset optimization decisions with advanced analytical tools.

The role requires 2+ years in quantitative analysis and strong Python/R skills, plus familiarity with power flow and transmission planning.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field.
2+ years of experience in quantitative analysis, energy markets, or related field.
Advanced proficiency in Python and/or R programming with 2+ years of commercial software development experience.
Strong mathematical and statistical modeling capabilities.
Power flow modeling experience or software development for power flow applications.
Transmission planning and system analysis experience.
Experience with energy market participation rules (Day-Ahead and Real-Time).
Knowledge of renewable energy and battery storage technologies.

Responsibilities

Develop and optimize mathematical models and algorithms for energy generation, storage, and asset optimization.
Interpret model valuations with trading/origination teams and respond to intra-day pricing requests.
Design risk management tools for evaluating company risk profiles and exposure levels.
Incorporate energy price forecasts, forward curves, and volatility analyses into design optimization.
Collaborate on documentation, software architecture, and project plans.
