Job summary

The Energy Authority in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Quantitative Analyst to join our Corporate Analytics team. You will build optimization, statistical, and production-cost models to guide energy market decisions and long-term planning for US utilities.

You’ll develop in-house tools using R, Python, SQL, and Excel, forecast energy prices, and contribute to IRP studies, working closely with clients and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of experience with electric utilities preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of statistics, probability, finance and business analysis.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (R, Python).
  • Experience with large datasets and building analytical tools.
  • Strong SQL/database skills and clear communication.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement optimization, statistical, machine learning, and production cost models.
  • Build in-house software tools and data pipelines with R, Python, SQL, Excel/VBA.
  • Forecast nodal and zonal energy prices across horizons using simulation models.
  • Develop capacity expansion and production cost models for long-term planning.
  • Model generation retirements/additions, load changes, market design changes, and transmission expansion.
  • Deliver production-quality code from R&D through implementation.
