Job summary

The City of New York, Department of Homeless Services (DHS), is seeking an Energy Manager to oversee emissions reductions and energy management for its DHS facilities. The role reports to the Assistant Commissioner – Environmental Design and Construction and collaborates with the Division of Energy Management.

Key duties include leading energy efficiency initiatives, managing utility accounts and budgets, coordinating energy training, and supporting DEM programs like LM, DR, and RTM.

Qualifications

• Eight years of full‑time experience in construction, repair, alteration and/or rehabilitation of multiple dwellings, commercial, industrial or public buildings, with supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead DHS's emissions reductions and energy management efforts across facilities.
• Manage DHS’s utility accounts and energy budget; coordinate with DEM for forecasts.
• Promote energy-saving training and best practices among DHS staff.
• Support Load Management, Demand Response and Real‑Time Metering programs; assist with RTM installations.
• Identify and implement energy efficiency and clean energy projects; review audits; develop grant applications.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on citywide emissions reduction and energy management.
