The New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) seeks an Energy Manager to oversee emissions reduction and energy management across its portfolio of facilities.
Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner – Environmental Design and Construction, the role leads energy efficiency projects, manages utility accounts and budgets, and coordinates with the City’s DEM and program participation. Strong leadership and technical calculation skills are essential.

The New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is the largest organization in the United States dedicated to preventing and addressing homelessness. In partnership with other City Agencies and Nonprofit Organizations, DHS works to prevent homelessness before it begins, reduces street homelessness, provide temporary shelter, and connect individuals and families to stable housing all with a focus on accountability, empathy, and equity.

The agency manages hundreds of facilities and operates with a large team as well as a several billion-dollar budget to meet the diverse needs of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness.
The Energy Manager will be responsible for overseeing emissions reduction and energy management efforts across DHS portfolio of facilities. They will report to the Assistant Commissioner – Environmental Design and Construction and work closely with staff at the City’s Division of Energy Management (DEM).
The Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is recruiting for one (1) Administrative Supervisor of Building Maintenance M-I to function as an Energy Manager who will:

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISOR OF B - 10035
1. Eight years of full-time experience in construction, repair, alteration and/or rehabilitation of multiple dwellings, commercial, industrial or public buildings in the capacity of general contractor, superintendent of construction, procurement specialist, evaluator responsible for cost estimation, or as a field supervisor or as an inspector, at least 18 months of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity involving responsibility for a large number of buildings; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above. Education in an accredited college leading toward a baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, engineering technology or a closely related field will be accepted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four years. However, all candidates must possess at least 18 months of the specialized supervisory or administrative experience described in "1" above.
