Job summary

Universal Technical Institute is seeking a Wind Turbine Technician Instructor in Irving, TX to deliver classroom and hands-on instruction preparing students for entry-level wind energy careers. You will teach wind turbine systems, electrical and mechanical topics, diagnostics, safety, climbing and rescue, and GWO safety training.

You will develop and update curriculum with the education team, mentor students on projects, and emphasize safety in a dynamic, student-focused learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of practical work experience in wind energy or related field.

Overview

The Wind Turbine Technician Instructor provides classroom and hands-on instruction to prepare students for entry-level careers in the wind energy industry. The instructor delivers technical training in wind turbine systems, electrical and mechanical systems, troubleshooting, safety, climbing and rescue activities, and applicable Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training while maintaining a safe, engaging, and student-focused learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspire and Educate:Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where students can flourish, fostering their passion for the HVACR industry while imparting your expert knowledge.
• Hands-On Training:Lead by example and provide practical demonstrations, ensuring students gain real-world experience in diagnostics, maintenance, and repair.
• Curriculum Development: Collaborate with our education team to enhance existing courses and develop new ones that align with industry trends and advancements.
• Mentorship:Guide and mentor students on their projects, encouraging them to think critically and find innovative solutions.
• Safety First:Instill the importance of safety procedures and best practices to ensure a secure working environment for students.

Qualifications

• Education:High school diploma or GED
• Experience:
  • 5 years of practical work experience in the field required.
    • Energy/ Wind/ Electrical Journeyman/Licensed Technician, NCCER Certified Instructor, associate or bachelor's degree in a related field a plus. Excludes teaching experience.
• Technical Skills: Complete power distribution, branch circuit wiring, conduit bending, lighting layouts, service panel upgrades, load calculations, and troubleshooting for single-phase and multi-phase commercial setups.
• Communication Skills:Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to effectively connect with students and fellow staff
• Patience and Empathy:A patient and empathetic approach to teaching, understanding that every student learns at their own pace
