Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Commerce is seeking an Energy Infrastructure and Regional Analyst to analyze proposals for energy infrastructure and draft recommendations for the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. This role supports regional and national energy markets and coordinates with organizations such as MISO, SPP, NERC, and FERC.

The position offers a hybrid work schedule with up to 50% telework, up to 25% travel, and opportunities to lead junior staff at PURA4.

Qualifications

  • Experience writing regulatory, legal, or similar documents advocating for outcomes.
  • Experience analyzing projects for compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Experience working on interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong written and oral communication for presenting findings.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting analysis of energy infrastructure dockets and developing recommendations.
  • Assessing compliance with statutes, rules, and Commission orders.
  • Support advocacy at regional and national energy organizations.
  • Monitor developments at regional/national bodies and brief leadership.
  • Develop positions in collaboration with internal and external partners.
