Job summary

Abraxas Energy Consulting, LLC is seeking an experienced Energy Engineer to support energy and water assessment projects nationwide. The role focuses on leading ASHRAE Level 2 audits, facility surveys, and retro-commissioning, with opportunities to mentor staff and contribute to business development.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and hands-on experience with energy-use analysis and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another STEM field with 3+ years of experience performing substantially all responsibilities OR an Associate degree with 5–10+ years of experience performing substantially all responsibilities.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with energy audits, building mechanical and electrical systems, controls, and energy-use analysis
• Experience preparing technical reports and presenting findings to clients

Responsibilities

• Lead ASHRAE Level 2 energy audits and water assessments
• Conduct facility surveys of commercial, multifamily, industrial, and energy-intensive buildings
• Perform retro-commissioning, measurement & verification activities, and field diagnostics
• Deploy and utilize monitoring equipment, data loggers, meters, and testing instruments
• Analyze utility data, field measurements, building systems, and control strategies
• Identify and evaluate energy conservation measures and water-saving opportunities
• Develop cost estimates, life-cycle cost analyses, and implementation recommendations
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and scopes of work
• Present findings to clients and project stakeholders
• Review the work of junior team members and provide mentorship and training
• Support business development efforts through technical input on proposals and client opportunities
• Assist with continuous improvement of company tools, processes, resources, and training materials
