Job summary

Piedmont Service Group is seeking an Energy Development Manager to drive energy and sustainability projects, support sales across NC/SC/VA, and help close HVAC, controls, and infrastructure opportunities. The role blends technical credibility with business development, financial analysis, and project leadership.

The successful candidate will develop hybrid energy savings projects, expand BAS modernization, and build ESS tools and templates to standardize project development across the company.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in commercial HVAC, mechanical contracting, project development, energy services, or related industries.
• Strong customer-facing communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience supporting project development, capital planning, engineering consulting, technical sales support, energy services, and financial justifications for capital improvement projects.
• Working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, controls, facility operations, energy savings principles.

Responsibilities

• Energy Project Development & Sales Support: identify, develop, and support hybrid energy savings projects involving HVAC upgrades, controls modernization, infrastructure improvements, utility incentives, and lifecycle cost reduction.
• Capital Planning & Major Project Support: serve as ESS resource for large capital replacement opportunities using lifecycle cost analysis, technical review, energy savings estimates, and incentive review.
• HVAC Controls & Building Automation Growth: focus ESS growth on controls upgrades and BAS modernization with cross-team collaboration.
• Customer & Sales Team Engagement: act as trusted advisor in customer meetings, proposals, and executive-level discussions to align ESS resources with growth objectives.
• Energy Analysis & Business Case Development: lead facility assessments, energy evaluations, savings analyses, and financial modeling; translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Performance Contract & M&V Support: oversee M&V obligations and assist with future performance-contract opportunities.
