Georgia Tech is seeking a Controls Energy Engineer to design, optimize, and maintain building automation and energy management systems, driving energy efficiency and occupant comfort across campus. The role combines control theory with project management, commissioning, and data‑driven improvements.

You will lead energy projects, analyze performance data, develop documentation, and collaborate with technicians to implement advanced control strategies aligned with sustainability goals.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize advanced control strategies for HVAC, lighting, and building systems to improve energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
  • Lead or support commissioning and retro-commissioning to ensure design intent and performance.
  • Develop energy conservation projects with payback analyses and manage external/internal teams as needed.
  • Analyze energy data and system performance to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.
  • Create, update, and maintain technical documentation for control systems and sequences of operation.
  • Evaluate new technologies and control platforms to support sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate with controls technicians to implement and fine‑tune control sequences for optimal performance.
  • Provide guidance and training on energy management practices to facilities staff and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Perform other duties to support organizational goals.
