Job summary

Talisman is seeking a Chief Risk Officer to lead enterprise-wide risk in a growing energy and commodity trading group. You will own market, credit, liquidity, and operational risk for both physical and financial trading, and define the risk appetite and ERM framework.

You will provide independent oversight to trading leadership on strategy, positions, and capital allocation, and build a multi-disciplinary risk organization spanning market, credit, and model governance.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive risk leadership within energy or commodity trading.
• Experience as CRO, Deputy CRO, or Head of Risk at a trading firm, merchant trader, utility, IPP, fund, or bank commodities platform.
• Deep expertise of market and credit risk at the framework level: VaR, stress testing, PFE, collateral strategy, and master agreements (ISDA, EEI, NAESB).
• Knowledge of North American power markets and/or global gas and commodity markets.
• Track record of building and scaling risk organizations through periods of growth.

Responsibilities

• Own enterprise-wide risk management for market, credit, liquidity, and operational risk for a physical and financial energy trading business.
• Define and govern the firm's risk appetite, ERM framework, policies, and limit structures.
• Provide independent oversight and challenge to trading leadership on strategy, positions, and capital allocation.
• Build, mentor, and scale a multi-disciplinary risk organization spanning market risk, credit risk, quant risk, and middle office.
• Direct the firm's risk technology and model governance agenda, including ETRM/CTRM strategy, curve validation, and IPV standards.
