Job summary

Fisher Associates in Buffalo, NY seeks an Energy Project Engineer - Civil to lead civil design tasks for utility and renewable energy projects. You will develop design plans, drawings, specifications, reports, and cost estimates, and provide construction support through site visits and review.

You will coordinate with project scope, schedule, and budget, maintain records, ensure compliance with regulations, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• PE license or ability to obtain it.
• 10–15 years civil engineering experience in utility or renewable energy design.
• Experience with linear utility corridor projects.
• Knowledge of NYS SEQR, DOT permitting, and local zoning.
• Experience with design plan preparation and bid packages.
• Strong collaboration and communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering technical design tasks for utility and renewable energy projects.
• Develop design plans, drawings, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
• Provide technical support during construction through site visits, design clarification, and design review.
• Prepare SWPPPs and stormwater management designs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate engineering tasks with project scope, schedule, and budget and support project managers with schedules, documentation, and client presentations.
• Maintain accurate project records, including design documents, progress reports, and budget information.
• Ensure designs comply with state and local regulations, safety codes, and industry standards while providing quality control, direction, and technical support to project team members.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders and mentor junior engineers in project work and technical development.
