Job summary

Mercy is seeking a highly skilled maintenance professional with expertise in boilers, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution, and control systems. The role requires independent repair capabilities, strong customer service, and a commitment to a safe Environment of Care for Mercy facilities.

Minimum qualifications include high school or equivalent, 3–5 years of related experience, EPA Universal Certification, and relevant boiler operator licensure.

Qualifications

• Education: High School, equivalent, or 1 year direct relevant experience.
• EPA Universal Certification and Boiler Operator licensing preferred.
• 3–5 years in commercial HVAC, boiler, and refrigeration maintenance.
• Must communicate effectively and follow Mercy policies.

Responsibilities

The skills required for this position will allow the incumbent to resolve repair issues independently with little to no supervision. Utilizes exceptional customer service and communication skills. The purpose of this position is to ensure a safe working environment and support an exceptional Environment of Care for Mercy.

The skills required for this position will allow the incumbent to resolve repair issues independently with little to no supervision. Utilizes exceptional customer service and communication skills. Must have general manual dexterity, basic math knowledge, and mechanical aptitude.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Education: High School, equivalent, or 1 year direct relevant experience

Licensure:

• Valid Driver's License for all Mercy locations
• Mercy Arkansas Hospitals require High Pressure Boiler Operator’s License administered by Arkansas Dept. of Labor and Licensing where boilers are installed. Incumbents must have license. New hires must obtain licensure within 1 year of employment.
• Mercy OKC Hospital requires Class II Boiler Operator's License administered by Oklahoma City where boilers are installed. Incumbents must have license. New hires must obtain licensure within 1 year of employment.
• Mercy OKC Hospital requires Class II Boiler Operator's License administered by Oklahoma Dept. of Labor where boilers are installed. Incumbents must have license. New hires must obtain licensure within 1 year of employment.
• Class C Tank Operator Training and Certification required for all Mercy locations with underground storage tanks. Must achieve certification within 90 days of employment.
• EPA Universal Certification as required by 40CFR, Part 82, Subpart F for all Mercy locations. Must achieve certification within 12 months of employment.

Experience: 3 to 5 years commercial experience working with HVAC, boilers, and refrigeration equipment.

Certification/Registration: EPA approved Universal Certification for handling Refrigerants

Other Skills And Knowledge:

• Requires oral and written communication skills to communicate with customers and follow instructions.
• Verbal ability required to read and understand technical manuals. Ability to teach or conduct learning sessions as needed.
• Numerical ability required to make calculations for testing, installation, measurement, estimation and repair of equipment.
• Ability to prioritize work assignments, conceptualize and formulate finished product.
• Form perception is required when measuring and installing parts and equipment.
• Requires knowledge and use of various computer software such as Outlook, and Mercy work order system.
• Ability to manage time and materials efficiently. Completes work assignments in a high-quality manner and the lowest cost to Mercy.
• Requires exceptional customer service skills and ability to achieve department goals.
• Spatial ability required to understand forms and relationships when working from blueprints or specifications.
• Requires general manual dexterity, basic math knowledge, and mechanical aptitude.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, electric shock, and loud noise.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: 2 or more years of training in a Technical or Vocational School

Licensure: Boiler, HVAC, or Refrigeration

Experience: 5 or more years working in a facility maintenance position within a healthcare environment
