Job summary

E Source is seeking a Consultant to support applied research and evaluation projects for utility clients in the US and Canada. You will collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, develop insights for program design and customer experience, and work with project teams to deliver high-impact client work.

You will refine interview guides, conduct stakeholder interviews, and contribute to analyses and client-facing outputs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 1–3 years of relevant experience in applied research, program evaluation, social science, or related field.
• Master’s degree or PhD with 1–2 years of professional or applied experience.
• Experience applying research or evaluation methods in coursework, internships, or professional settings.
• Strong analytical skills to organize, interpret, and summarize data.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to explain methods and findings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine interview guides, survey instruments, focus group materials, and other data collection tools.
• Conduct interviews with program staff, market actors, utility customers, and other stakeholders; support additional primary research.
• Contribute to analysis plans; clean, organize, review, and interpret data.
• Execute analysis plans using established research methods and analytical tools.
• Document analytical decisions and steps for transparency and reproducibility.
• Perform initial quality checks on your own work before sharing outputs.
• Develop data visualizations, graphics, and tables to communicate findings.
• Interpret findings and contribute to reports, presentations, memos, and client deliverables.
• Manage multiple assignments; meet deadlines; communicate status and risks with proposed solutions.
• Collaborate with project managers, senior consultants, subject matter experts, engineers, and data scientists.
