Job summary

Meta seeks an experienced accountant to support energy accounting for Meta's infrastructure, driving month-end close, accruals, and continuous process improvements. You will work with Energy, Supply Chain Operations, and Engineering teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with US GAAP and SOX controls.

The role emphasizes ownership, proactive issue resolution, and collaboration across finance and business partners, with opportunities to leverage AI tooling for efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience owning recurring close deliverables (accruals, prepaids, commitments)
• Knowledge of US GAAP, energy accounting transactions (ASC 842/360/815)
• SOX controls experience and internal controls knowledge
• Strong business partnership skills and ability to explain accounting to non-accounting partners
• Ability to map end-to-end systems affecting accounting and reporting
• Experience with Microsoft & Google tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs)
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
• Analytical problem-solving with root-cause analysis and tradeoff evaluation
• Willingness to adapt to new areas and ramp up quickly

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post monthly utilities and energy accruals and support accrual review
• Prepare quarterly energy and renewable commitments reporting with schedules
• Monitor prepaid energy/water balances, amortization, and reconciliations
• Perform monthly energy GL review, reclassifications, and variances resolution
• Prepare fixed asset creation requests for energy capital wires; review energy cash transactions
• Monitor energy lease commencements; support lease accounting conclusions
• Serve as accounting contact for Energy, Supply Chain Ops, and Engineering teams
• Support contract reviews for new energy arrangements; prepare initial accounting write-up
• Prepare documentation for SOX controls and assist audits
• Drive process improvements and automation, including AI tooling
• Manage month-end/quarter-end close including entries, reconciliations, analyses
