Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Coffee Shop Barista to craft beverages, keep the shop stocked and spotless, and ensure customers leave with a smile. You will greet customers, take orders, prepare products, and manage payments in a busy store coffee shop environment.

The role emphasizes friendly service, accuracy, and teamwork, with training provided and a focus on maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Follow written and verbal instructions with confidence.
• Use basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
• Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way.
• Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy coffee shop environment.
• Less than a high school diploma or equivalent accepted; up to six months of similar or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one.
• Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, and assist with finding products and answering questions.
• Prepare and replenish coffee shop products as needed throughout your shift.
• Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list to stay ahead of daily needs.
• Handle food safely and keep the work area clean, neat, and up to department standards at all times.
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed.
• Run the department register and process payments where applicable.
• Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
• Work alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer.
• Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies.
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
