Job summary

Discovery Point Lutz is seeking an enthusiastic After-School Teacher to join our team in Lutz, FL. The role focuses on supervising school-age children, creating a safe and engaging environment, and leading activities after the school day.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, communicates well with families, and collaborates with a supportive leadership team. Part-time hours, with additional shifts during breaks and summer programs, are available.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with school-age children preferred
• Childcare, teaching, camp, tutoring, or youth-program experience is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be dependable, responsible, and energetic
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Must enjoy working with children and have a positive attitude
• Must meet Florida childcare employment requirements

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of school-age children
• Create a positive, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment
• Plan and lead age-appropriate activities, games, arts and crafts, and enrichment experiences
• Assist children with homework and school assignments when needed
• Encourage positive social interactions, teamwork, and respectful behavior
• Provide opportunities for indoor and outdoor play
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom
• Build positive relationships with children and their families
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's day
• Follow all center policies, safety procedures, and state childcare regulations
• Work collaboratively with other teachers and administration
• Help create a fun and memorable experience for children in our after-school program
