Job summary

The Wesleyan Investments Office manages the University’s endowment to support Wesleyan’s academic mission and long‑term financial strength. The Investment Analyst will join a generalist team, assist in monitoring performance, screening money managers, and preparing materials for the investment committee.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with expected completion prior to the position start date in summer 2027.
  • Record of outstanding academic achievement.
  • Desire to be part of a collaborative, problem-solving investment team.
  • Demonstrated passion for critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving within a team environment.
  • Strong quantitative skills.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Interest in portfolio theory and investing.

  • Intellectually curious.
  • Willingness to pursue the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation while working for the Investments Office (sponsored by Wesleyan).
  • Adherence to a strict code of ethics and conflict of interest policy.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and analyzing investment objectives, capital allocation decisions, investment performance and investment policies.
  • Assisting in the screening, selection, and monitoring of money managers through background research, manager meetings, and portfolio analyses.
  • Manager interaction including travel across the United States and the world.
  • Quantitatively and qualitatively monitoring the investments of existing portfolio managers.
  • Tracking and monitoring portfolio risks.
  • Conducting research and analysis and preparing information on a variety of investment topics.
  • Articulating investment theses and research through presentations.
  • Preparing materials for the investment committee and board of trustees.
  • Serving as a representative of the University throughout the investment community.
  • Maintaining internal databases and research management systems on a daily, monthly and/or quarterly basis.
  • Actively participating in manager meetings with responsibility for notes, memos and other follow-up analysis.
  • Portfolio analysis – performance analytics including return attribution and exposure analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
