Job summary

The Bard Prison Initiative invites nominations and applications for the Chair for the Study of History. A Ph.D. in history or related field is required; research specialization is open.

This two-year full-time position starts July 1, 2027 with teaching responsibilities beginning in the fall semester. The Chair will teach a 2-2 course load across six of BPI’s seven campuses located in correctional facilities in New York State.

Qualifications

• Teaching and research engagement are expected.

Responsibilities

• Teach a 2-2 course load across six campuses located in New York State correctional facilities.
• Contribute to undergraduate/graduate curricula with writing-intensive courses.
• Participate in faculty workshops, senior project advising, and overall engagement with BPI.
