Job summary

Bowie State University invites applications for the prestigious Endowed Chair in Cyber-Entrepreneurship. This role offers a visionary leader in cybersecurity to guide innovation within CS and across the University, advancing R2 status and expanding research and federal contracting.

The chair will build industry partnerships, mentor researchers, and lead cross-campus initiatives to enhance BSU’s research and entrepreneurship ecosystem while promoting excellence in teaching and outreach.

Qualifications

• Expertise in cybersecurity and entrepreneurship with an applied research background.
• Experience in technology commercialization including patent process, I-Corps, SBIR, STTR.
• Proven leadership in building interdisciplinary teams and engaging diverse partners.
• Strong record securing external funding and advancing student/faculty research.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to foster a culture of innovation in cybersecurity and entrepreneurship.
• Coordinate a cutting-edge curriculum integrating cybersecurity and entrepreneurship.
• Mentor students and faculty in research, innovation, and professional development.
• Represent the University to internal and external stakeholders across sectors.
• Maintain an independent scholarly research agenda aligned with national trends.
• Commit to collaboration with industry partners one day per week.
• Advance BSU’s CAE-CDE status and expand external research funding.
• Drive partnerships with industry, HBCUs, and USM institutions.
