Job summary

Bowie State University invites applications for an Endowed Chair in Cyber-Entrepreneurship. This contingent II, fixed-term appointment will lead innovation in cybersecurity and entrepreneurship within the Department of Computer Science and across the university.

The role aims to advance BSU toward CAE-CDE status, expand research and federal contracting activities, and foster industry partnerships with USM and other entities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity and entrepreneurship, with strong research, education, and operational practice.
• Experience in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship, including patent processes and SBIR/STTR experience.
• Proven leadership in building interdisciplinary teams and securing external funding.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to foster innovation in cybersecurity and entrepreneurship across programs.
• Coordinate a cutting-edge curriculum integrating cybersecurity and entrepreneurship.
• Mentor students and faculty in research, innovation, and professional development.
• Represent the University to internal and external stakeholders, including government and industry partners.
• Maintain an independent scholarly research agenda aligned with national trends in cybersecurity and innovation.
• Commit to one day per week of collaborative research with an industry partner.
• Lead efforts to secure external research funding and promote intramural research activity.
• Drive partnerships with industry, HBCUs, and USM institutions to expand federal contracting.
