Job summary

UC San Diego invites applications for the Kagnoff Endowed Chair in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology. This distinguished position seeks a physician-scientist or scientist whose work advances GI and liver diseases through innovative research and leadership.

The appointee will develop a world-class research program, mentor trainees, and contribute to education, research, and clinical missions across UC San Diego. Collaborative and translational strengths are valued.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have an MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in medicine, biomedical sciences, or a health-related discipline.
• Candidates must have an internationally recognized record of scientific achievement with at least 2 years of independent research published in high-impact journals.
• Candidates must have a sustained record of extramural funding and an active funded program.
• Must demonstrate excellence in mentorship, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration with at least 2 years of teaching/mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain an internationally recognized research program with extramural funding.
• Provide scientific leadership within the Division and Department.
• Teach and mentor graduate students, postdocs, clinical fellows, and junior faculty.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaborations and strengthen UC San Diego's research ecosystem.
