Job summary

University of California, Davis seeks the holder of the MacArthur Foundation UC Endowed Chair in Climate Solutions. The chair will specialize in climate solutions with nationally or internationally recognized scholarship, for a five-year term with no option for reappointment.

The endowment payout of approximately $65,000 annually will support research, teaching, and service, furthering the mission of the home department and campus.

Qualifications

• Academic Senate member at the level of associate professor or full professor, or an associate professor or full professor of Cooperative Extension.
• Specialization in the general area of climate solutions with distinguished scholarship that is nationally or internationally recognized.

Responsibilities

• Engage in research and other scholarly activities focused on the areas outlined in the research proposal.
• If an Academic Senate member, advance on time through the faculty ranks on the basis of their scholarly activities, teaching, and University and public service; teach a regular course load in the undergraduate and/or graduate programs of the home department or graduate group (teaching may not be bought out using endowment funds).
• If a professor of Cooperative Extension, extend knowledge and information, perform research -- especially applied research and creative work -- professional competence and activity, and University and public service. Engage in education and extending knowledge to external stakeholders focused on the areas outlined in the research proposal.
• Perform service, provide leadership, and otherwise be fully engaged in activities of the home department, school/college, and/or University.
• Comply with the UC Davis Faculty Code of Conduct and the Principles of Community.
• Enhance the academic and intellectual life of UC Davis.
