Qualifications

  • Minimum: Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
  • Minimum: One year of experience in an endoscopy department.
  • Preferred: Certified Endoscopy Technician or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor.

Description:

  • Assists patients, visitors, and families in a professional and helpful manner. Gives accurate information and directions to patients, visitors, and families.
  • Maintains clean and organized physical work environment; processes work orders and communication with EVS and Facilities Management; orders and maintains inventory of office and patient care supplies. Schedules patient procedures.
  • Ensures patient safety through proper identification process and giving appropriate directions and assistance when necessary.
  • In collaboration with the RN, delivers patient care and observes patient’s condition and progress (or lack of progress) toward defined outcomes, documents observations.
  • Supports unit activities by transporting patients, answering patient call lights and responding to patient requests, transporting specimens, blood, non-narcotic pharmaceuticals, supplies, and medical records.
  • Ensures proper sterilization or High Leven Disinfection of instruments including prep, sterilization, handling, packaging, storage, and distribution.
  • Collaborates with department Educator to assist in staff training and orientation, documents training. Will function as a primary preceptor for new hires.
  • Assists the RN with patient care activities acting as a second circulator for procedures and endoscopy cases.
  • Checks at start of day to ensure procedure room is properly supplied and equipment is correctly set up.
  • Operates and adjusts equipment; troubleshoots equipment problems; holds camera; and assists with collection of specimens.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What the Lead Endoscopy Technician will need:

  • High School diploma or Equivalent.
  • Minimum: Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification obtained within one week of hire. Endoscopy certification
  • Minimum: One year of experience in an endoscopy department.
  • Preferred: Previous patient care experience and/or technical education in health-related field
  • Preferred: Certified Endoscopy Technician or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor
